Saturday 6th August 2022
It's a dry day today eventhough there were forecasts of wild weather over the weekend.
I sleep in today after suffering from what felt like jet lag.
I watch the news and have breakfast I have so much to do today - laundry pay bills shopping return bottles for recycling etc.
In the morning I paid my Telstra bill snd Income Protection for the month of August.
Although I watched the news I did not really record the news headlines for today. I was making the pumpkin soup I was planning to make from the left over pumpkin and sweet potato i purchased down in Melbourne that I did not use. With the rising cost of living I didn't want to waste these so bought them back up to Sydney with me.
After sorting my laundry and having a shower I ventured out in the afternoon to get some essential groceries and recycle my bottles.
Armed with my full bag of plastic bottles to be recycled, I arrived at Chatswood only to find the store was shut but will open tomorrow instead when it normally isn't open. I had to hold onto my bag of bottles everywhere I went shopping ie Coles Priceline and Woolworths Metro.
Home on the bus I unpack my groceries and have something to eat.
I watch the food channel before falling asleep.

Sunday 7th August 2022
A beautiful day today. It's seems like it's not Winter anymore. The sun is shining! I must go out today. I wish I was at the snow as conditions are perfect with a fresh snowfall overnight on Friday. A contrast to my disappointing day at Lake Mountain where there was hardly any snow!
I am still catching up with my blogs.
It ended up rainng in the afternoon and I felt so tired today I did not venture out.
I still haven't done my laundry and I still haven't returned that contract for the job at KNC.
Still no word on my transfer to Myer Chatswood's Online Drpartment
Sleep earlier then usual.

Monday 8th August 2022
Another beautiful day today.
First thing this morning before 9 am I returned the signed copy of the employment contract by email to KNC.
Still no word about my transfer to Myer Chatswood. I think I have waited long enough and it's almost certain that it is not going ahead , At least not by 14th August 2022. Time waits for no one therefore I have made a decision and hope it is the right one after holding off as long as possible. I am still on unpaid leave for another week.
I made a chocolate slice today. It did not turn out as it should have as I added too much butter and instead of adding the chocolate chips last I added them too early and they all melted . I tasted it and it was ok but better cooled and chilled overnight. I intend to crush up the mixture and mix some mascarpone cheese and blueberry jam with it and make them into truffle balks covering them in dark chocolate as they were not sweet enough ( I ran out of sugar) and used a bit of manuka honey .
Today I took my rubbish out to the bins and good someone has put the overfilled bins out earlier today. I then took the bus to Chatswood to get some more change for my laundry, recharge my opal card recycle my 10 empty bottles and get some more essential groceries from the larger Coles in Chatswood.
I also stopped at the sushi hub in The Chase. not my favourite but it will do.I had 4 pieces of sushi seared scallop, abalone, jellyfish and grilled salmon.
One my way home I decided to try one of the many bubble tea places that have opened up around Chatswood. Chat time Koomi and CoCo were all within minutes of each other at Chatswood Station Concourse. Which one should I try? I haven't had a bubble tea since the original Easyway bubble tea chains were open back in the 1990s eventually closing down completely and replaced with the Chat Time chain of bubble tea stores. Now every man and his dog is offerring bubble tea varieties. I finally decided on a green tea no sugar fruit tea overload with aloe vera for a whopping $8.80 a cup! Bubble tea is not cheap anymore. The cheapest bubble tea from Chat Time is around $5.50 a cup. It was ok I rate it a 6/10 . It was fruity but next time i will specify no ice and oolong tea and pearls not aloe vera. I'm not feeling the best after drinking it and it took them forever to make.
Home I unpack my groceries watch the news the cook up and 8 out of 10 does countdown whilst catching up with my blog.
Tomorrow I will be expecting a call from KNC as to my start date as per email. I hope I have made the right decision workwise. I have not given my notice yet to Myer Warringah.
I try to sleep but my skin is really itchy again. Is it going to rain again? Forecast was not to put your umbrella away just yet.

Tuesday 9th August 2022.
It is an overcast day today.
Today I finally did my laundry. It's in the dryer now. It think it will take at least 2 cycles to dry.
There are quite a few items that can't go in the dryer or are doubtful that they can go in the dryer therefore I have to hang these up to dry.
I still haven't heard back from KNC about a start date for the job and it's almost 1 pm but there is still time.
Today I received a text message from my brother in regards to my father's estate.
I sent a message to my day trip bus buddy from Arizona US to ensure she arrived back in the US safely. No response yet but i'm sure she is jetlagged and has a mountain of things to do. I hope she did arrive safely and with no delays cancellations or lost luggage!
Still so much to do and my skin is having another massive allergic reaction The sun is out again however I can't go out as I am still waiting for my laundry to dry.
Just received a text message from my day trip bus buddy from the US. She arrived home safely hard to believe she is now back home half way around the world.
I am finding it really strange how she wants to know everything about me but whenever I ask her something about herself she does not respond. Maybe that's the way Americans are loud but reserved. Interesting .Let's hope she is not a Nigerian scammer .
It's past 5 pm and still no word from KNC
Maybe it's a sign. I know that I don't want to return to Myer Warringah and still no word about my transfer to Myer Chatswood
My laundry taking so long to dry and it's still not dry after 2 hours. Most of my day has been doing laundry.

It's Rednose Day Today
It didn't rain today so I ventured out in the afternoon as needed to purchase some eessential groceries.
It's Friday night so the markets are on .
After my visit to aldi coles and woolworths as well as big w by Metro to Mcquarie Shopping Centre, I return to Woolworths Metro at Chatswood for a final shop before heading to the markets for a second snack. My first snack was octapus balls from sushi world at Macquarie shopping centre. they were awful - the sauce was not a Japanese bbq sauce but a salty dark Chinese sauce of some type and the may was just some supermarket brand mayo that was so stingy it did not balance the saltiness of the other sauce drizzled over the octapus balls. Rating 3/10
Not recommended goto a proper Japanese sushi place.
So back to my 2nd snack of a sesame leaf hand made fish cake. I used to love these fish cakes on a stick from this market stall but tonight I think the stall has cut corners. It just is not the same. The servingis smaller, the price is now $5 and there was hardly any fish it was all a thick sticky batter on a stick which has been deep fried at least 3 times in oil. The serving has shrunk as well. It was a true 5/10. I don't recommend it at all. There was along queue of people waiting but I think it was for the rice cakes on a stick and the pork sausages slathered in that thick batter and refried at least 3 times! I slathered my fish cake with Korean style chill sauce instead of the normal chili sauces. It tastes like chilli sauce mixed with some chinese sauce that i just can't put my finger on - is it fermented black bean sauce? I think it is called sweet sauce in Chinese which we have with thick seamed rice noodles ( not hoisin sauce if that is what people are thinking of). I dodn't hate this Korean style chilli sauce but it is different to normal chilli sauce or sweet chilli sauce. ( photo below)
Home on the bus it's an extremely long wait for the bus home. So many people waiting for the bus.
Home I unpack my groceries and watch whatever is on missing the cook up before going to sleep. I managed to catch part of 8 out of 10 does countdown, part of the living room. an encore of hybpa and Brain Estedford .

Happy 50th City To Surf!
Today was a little cold overcast but dry.
60000 participated in the City to Surf which is around 20000 down from normal numbers in the past. I suppose people have other things to worry about then completing a fun run and it's not cheap either! Me well I will never run a city to surf again- retiring after 25 runs is enough. I was suppose to ring heher back but didn't - too sick and preparing for my new job - they scheduled a shift on Kronos 10 am - 9 pm anyway assuming i would say yes. That's how desparate for staff they are and I am only rostered on for 1 shift on Friday in Homewares on Kronos.

Today I travelled to St Ives for a day of training at KNC office.
I drop in at lunch time to see the manager at Plenty st Ives snd the owner was there. He had gone grey. It must have been a hard 2 years for the owner. I find out that 1 staff member had retired and another staff member works a few days a week. Most staff had been culled.
After visiting them I had lunch at McDonalds - don't know why but after walking around the shopping village could not decide on what to eat so purchased a angus burger with no cheese and also requested a cup of hot water. I have been drinking a lot of hot green tea to flush out anything in my system that should not be there and to keep myself hydrated. I had finished the water in my thermos therefore replaced it with this hot water. I took an hour for lunch before heading back to the office. My brain is about to explode with all the information i was trying to absorb whilst feeling tired and unwell.
I also bumped into a concierge bus buddy and said hello to him. He is still working there.

Day off ( regular day off from work!)
Today was catch up on admin day. I forwarded my first timesheet in not with some problems and completed my required COVID training course including a quiz which is now a little obsolete.
I really had to go out to do some essential grocery shopping as I have run out of food almost. Still in pain i made my way to Chatswood . I had not eaten much all dsy so after recycling my 8 bottles , headed to the Chatswood markets and had a The Works Turkish Gozleme which was spinach cheese mushrooms and beef for $13. It seemed everyone was ordering the works. It was delicious - either that or I was just hungry! Has not changed except I still think the amount of spinach has been subjected to shrinkflation! I rate it a 8/10. There is something about going to the markets at night.
Next onto getting a bucket load of moisturiser vitamin e cream body wash for dry itchy skin and corestone cream sll of which I have totally run out of.

I did not go out today but received a text from the unvaccinated team member from myer who is off with a coughing fit. She is debating whether to go to work tomorrow. I said don't her allergies resulting in coughing fits will only get worse and I recommended that she wear a mask as it helped me.

Happy Seniors Day!
Today I ventured out in the afternoon to the Rocks to find a replacement koala magnet for the US day tripping bus buddy that left hers behind at airport security whilst running for her flight.
I found a really cute 3 d one after looking at many not quite right tacky ones in a store inside the "tourist" arcade in the rocks. photo below
I also walked through the weekend original Rocks Markets along George Street next to the Mercantile Hotel a very old Irish pub in The Rocks.
Before walking and looking around the Rocks I stopped off at my favourite French Patisserie La Renaissance - at least it was my favourite until today. Everyone was outside in the sun sityingat tableseating piesand creamy French desserts.I am not a fanof their pies and can't eat any of their sweet treats as they are so fill of dairy. I aimed to get a smoked salmon baguette and a quiche as I love their quiches until now. Have they changed ownership management staff? I was so disappointed that they did not have any salmon baguette so settled for a chicken one and also a mushroom quiche ( although it looked as if salmon quiches were available) . For $20 ( $12 for the baguette and $8 for the quiche) I was hopingit was worth it. I thought I could munch on the baguette whilst I walked around The Rocks - how wrong I was. The filling kept falling out and I was bitinginto the paper that was so tightly wrapped around it I could not even tear it. The quiche was in a long cardboard holder too big for it but big enough to hold the baguette both in paper bags. The baguette was pretty ordinary tasting and so was the quiche which was a little curdled and split. There was liquid accumulating and dripping into it's foil casing - yep foil in an oversized cardboard holder inside a paper bag. So La Renaissance no longer my favourite and there was quite a wait in a queue to be served. You csn't even see what's available before you get in to be served. I rate it a 5/10. Sit down not take away highly recommended. Should have gone next door to try Guylian ( yes chocolates) cafe instead who also serves savour items.
After my walk around the Rocks which also included a sticky beak walk around the "oh what's going on?" in First Fleet Park. Photos below. It was time to take the light rail to Woolworths Town Hall to do some essential grocery shopping before heading home. Should I go to the MCA or take a ferry to Manly? Such a nice day today. Nah - go grocery shopping instead otherwise I will starve.
Home unpack groceries and sleep as it is the start of week 2 in my new job working from home. I tend to get really tired by the end of each day of work eventhough i am working from home so go to sleep really early.

Day off.
It started off a nice dry day but by mid afternoon, the weather changed and it became cold and poured with rain.
Today I went to the Cherry Blossom Festival out at Auburn Botanic Gardens. I had purchased a fully refundable ticket on the 23rd August for the 10 am - 10.45 am session today which cost me $12.70 ( $2.70 includes booking fee and refund insurance) There were heaps of tickets available at the time I booked online but every single session had sold out for today and over the final 2 days of the festival over this weekend so hundreds of people missed out however at the entrance there was a QR code they could scan to enjoy the rest of the Cherry Blossom Festival.
The Cherry Blossom Festival is a very short annual event out at Auburn Botanic Gardens. This was not my first visit to the festival and to be honest it wasn't as good this year as it was pre COVID. The festival was confined to a smaller area where every single 45 minute session was fully booked for today and over its final weekend. There were hundreds of visitors that missed out on tickets to see the actual cherry blossom trail in the Japanese Gardens but they could still enjoy the rest of the festival by scanning a QR code upon arrival. There is meant to be a free shuttle bus running every 15 minutes but it was running more like every whenever it decided to show up at Auburn Station. Parking was also a nightmare out at the gardens. Well - what can I say? I almost missed out on seeing the cherry blossom trail despite having a pre purchase refundable ticket in the event of getting ill, COVID, extreme weather or train disruptions. The train service took forever for me to get out to Auburn Station and the free shuttle bus took forever to arrive therefore I missed my 10 am - 10.45 am session entirely. I was unsure if i would be turned away when I arrived and would be extremely angry if I was as my ticket was a refundable one. The organisers were not allowing any visitors into alternative sessions who were late and missed their prebooked sessions due to the event being sold out with 1000 visitors allowed for each 45 minute session. I don't get it, locals get in free and non locals like myself have to pay to get in and turned away if you are late. I witnessed one family from overseas get turned away because they missed their session - I do wonder if they had purchased a refundable ticket or not. Some people were unaware tgathere weresession times. I ended up being allowed into the 12 noon session as I had took precaution by contacting and speaking to the supervisor whilst I was at the station explaining my situation of how it took me 2 hours just to get to Auburn Station. If I had just shown up like the family after my session ended I would have been turned away despite having a refundable ticket. It started to sprinkle whilst I was at the cherry blossom trail. If I had shown up any later in the afternoon it would have been a miserable visit as it poured later in the afternoon and turned cold despite hundreds of thousands of visitors still arriving. The cherry blossoms themselves were pretty but not spectacular.
( photos below and refer my video on YouTube )
I asked a work collegue when she sent me a video and asked what it was. It was a Japanese drumming performance. This was on the main stage and I just had to video it as it was an activity parents and kids got involved in. Lots of fun to watch as the kids drummed with a professional and the audience also interacted with arm movements and cheers. If you couldn't get a ticket to the actual cherry blossom trail in the Japanese Gardens, you could still enjoy the live entertainment on the main stage and the areas around the Reflection Pool which was full of food and drink trucks and pop up huts, mini golf, the hello kitty party (not open during my visit) etc.
After walking around the foid and drink pop up huts and trucks, I decided on a regular cone of chicken Karaage served with a blob of mayo half a cherry tomato ( yes half of a single cherry tomato!) and a single lettuce leaf for $9 and a cup of cherry blossom soda complete with ice and a cherry without ice cream for $6. There was nothing special about the chicken as several foid trucks and pop up huts also had karaage chicken on their menus for less so I rate it a 7/10 however I thought I would not like the cherry blossom soda as I thought it would be really sweet and debated whether i should have purchased the cherry blossom drink from the other pop up hut that was the same price. Instead I stuck to the cherry blossom soda from the same pop up foid hut as my karaage chicken and instead purchased just a water from the other pop up. So what did I think of the cherry blossom soda It wasn't too sweet at all and i did not expect it to taste like plum. I quite liked it so give it an 8/10.
Last stop of my day at the Cherry Blossom Festival after exiting the festival was a visit to my favourite Fauna Reserve where a very fat wombat, an emu, several ducks, wallabies, kangaroos, a Cape barren goose, several peacocks and peahens reside permanently away from the bush turkeys that are protected but find their way around the Auburn Botanic Gardens - I did not see any bin chickens thank goodness . The highlight of today was a particular peacock showing affection towards a particular peahen and you know what happens afterwards. ( refer the video I have uploaded onto my YouTube channel).
The Fauna Reserve is located before the entrance/exit to The Cherry Blossom Festival which was inside the festival last time I visited pre COVID . I also visited the Aviary Reserve across the road - don't bother going unless you are a keen bird watcher- nice gate at the entrance of the reserve but dirty cages artificial environment where the birds are all caged up fed human food and all looked as if they were pigeons off the street ie not interesting or colourful except for a few parrots I spotted in one of the cages.
I walk to the free shuttle bus stop and manage to board the awaiting shuttle bus back to Auburn Station. There was hardly anyone on this shuttle bus unlike the shuttle buses before 10.45 am this morning from Auburn Station which were full. The one I had to wait so long l for was empty with me and 2 or 3 others on it only. The Cherry Blossom Shuttle Bus officer stationed at Auburn Station had ensured that as soon as we all boarded the shuttle bus, it did not wait for anyone else and drove off straight to Auburn Botanic Gardens as we had waited long enough.
I take the next train back to Town Hall , the platform is crowded with people . I am not surprised. It is a bit of a wait for the next train.
About an hour later I arrive at Town Hall Station where I do another main grocery shop and purchase a few new products.
$1 milo kit kat in regular or chunky. Yep it had a hint of milo taste in it but no it is one of those kit kat flavours where there is nothing special about it and that I would not buy again. I rate it a 5/10
After my shop I drop off the stamped envelop containing the 3D koala magnet into the mail box outside Woolworths to the day trip bus buddy and text her to advise that I have posted it .
Home on the next train towards Chatswood. It is again another long wait. I alight at St Leonards and remember that there is a Priceline pharmacy there as the one at Town Hall is no longer there. I purchsse a tube of 1% cortesone cream and some generic antihistamines.
I then walk across the road and go straight home. Groceries unpacked I am so tired so fall asleep after the cook up.
