Friday 5th April 2024

Today was annual fire and property inspection day.It started at 10 am but I wasn't home. They don't usually inspect the units ( they actually did today as my blind was up and the bathroom doir open when I got back) but the annual fire inspection was over a month late this year. When I returned home today, it was obvious that my unit was inspected as the blind was partially up, I left it down as the sun is horrendous during this time of the year although it should be less horrendous now that it is into Autumn and I had closed my bathroom door as I had just had a shower but it was open when I returned home. It wasn't the cleanest as I had not cleaned it having been away over Easter . ( I am still trying to find  if there is a leak somewhere and I am still too scared to touch the remaining sliding shower door which has been faulty since I moved in over 4 years ago and I was almost injured by it when it almost fell on me when I slid it closed - the repair guy never showed up to fix it so the faulty glass door has been laying flat wrapped up on my floor against wall under the window untouched since).

I was sent a rather long text message from the landlord ( she is actually the property manager) advising me that my rent had increased last August and that I had still been paying my old rate . I responded with I never got any notice that my rent had increased and asked if this was the case why didn't she inform me. It has been 9 months now and I have been paying my rent one month in advance every single month since I moved in over 4 years ago! Because she did not even advise me of how much the increase was ,  how am I suppose to pay it? I also made a complaint of how I don't use the kitchen as it is so dirty all the time and how the person who apparently is being paid to take the bins out every week isn't doing so  therefore I can't even put my rubbish out because all the bins are already overflowing. I don't think she is being reasonable. My neighbour has also made the same complaints about his rent increase and the rubbish situation. I feel that I should report her to the Tenants Union of NSW or to NSW Fair Trading however my neighbour warn that if I did I could be evicted and unless I have another place to go to then not advised.

News headlines today - there is only one I wke up to and it's a 16 year old boy who stabbed a Christian bishop in a church livestreamed seevice in the Western suburb of Sydney Wakely. The police comission has declared it as a terrorist attack. So  soon after the Bondi Junction Westfield massacre.  An emergency meet has been called with all religious leaders meeting with AA followed with AA having a meeting with the police commissioner NSW premier , had of the AFP head of ASIO etc . Calls not to listen to any social media rumours or comments and to wait for the facts from police investigations. It may have been a solo act where the 16 year old stabbed the Bishop in front of his congregation 8 times  but it escalated to hundreds possibly into the thousands of residents retaliating with riots making it difficult for ambulance officers and police to perform their duties. Paramedics were basically locked inside for over 3 hours, 2 constables were attacked when attending the incident hit by objects causing them injuries. These residents were yelling to bring the attacker out for hours and trying to take the law into their own hands I stead of letting police deal with the attacker even claiming they retaliated to the stabbing attack because the police took too long to arrive. The Bishop ( who even after being sta bed was asking for forgiveness of the attacker) and another clerk have been taken to hospital and are in a serious condition after surgery. The attacker is rumoured to have had a severed finger from his attack on the Bishop and is under police custody and also rumoured to have called out to want to see his mother as he was arrested and taken away by them . There is so much more to this terrorist attack story that is still under investigation .

Today was a property evaluation inspection day originally at 20 am but postponed to 1 pm. I ha cleaned the apartment before I left but I am unsure if the apartment was actually inspected as it looked as if it wasn't unlike last time when it definitely was. I wasn't there at 1 pm as I went to the library again to do my assignment, staying there until it closed at 6 pm then having a regular sized  Japanese curry as a treat for submitting it then going for a quick grocery shop for mainly non food items before heading home by bus.

All the rubbish bins were overflowing again and I spoke to my neighbours in #7 and #3 again. It was never this full previously. My neighbours think it is #1 a & #1b and I saw it was # 2 who was filling up the bins with stuff. They have no respect for separating their rubbish into the correct bins putting cardboard into the yellow container bin  and putting containers and general rubbish into the cardboard and paper bin. They are eating so much takeaway  and just throwing everything into whatever bin they can. I've already complained but my neighbours have not to the property manager. I even tried to squish it down today but it's not possible the bins are too full and with the wrong stuff in them. #7 tries to separate the rubbish into the correct bins but gave up from the bin juice as tge bins won't be emptied if they contain the wrong rubbish or overflowing.

Today I actually went out. I was going to go to Tafe to use the computers but didn't as it looked a little spooky walking into building J on my own at a random day and time in the middle of the holidays eventhough one of my teachers would be there again from noon today.

I walked to St Leonards to grocery shop at the IGA and Coles instead with a stop off at Bakers Delight for a Mediterranean pizza and a beef pea and mash potato pie from a pie shop at St Leonards Station which I had bern meaning to try for a while now. It was a bit pricey at $8.50 a pie and by the time I ate it it was stone cold but still nice.

When I arrived home I put my groceries away  and made a batch of  miso maple chicken wings eating them with brocolli and rice as well as a batch of Anzac like cookies but pimped up with candied mix peel, dried cherries blueberries and cranberries, a dash of contreau, LSA, Cocao powder, dark chocolate chips, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, shivered almonds, maple syrup, a dash of vanilla, a dash of German mixed spice, manuka honey , coconut powder and possibly a few other fancy ingredients. These biscuits were absolutely yummy! Got to love the original ANZAC biscuit recipe with or without the coconut added!

Ah oh  the latest episode of Bluey has been seen as controversial. No it's not about the kids not wearing their seat belts but having to sit Bluey in the front passenger seat due to not having any room in the back seat for her. Usually children upto the age of 10 ( dependong on the country) must be placed in infant capsules and teathered child seats or booster seats in the back seat of the car and their are a set of  regulations in relation to child safety in mvs. The controversy was about Bluey who is 7 years old ( dog years?)  sitting in the front passrnger seat without a booster seat with just a seat belt. QLD laws allow children over the age of 4 to sit in the front seat as long as they are restrained however child safety experts say this is not quite correct. In the episode it is a treat for Bluey and the mother has even got the approval from a police officer.

Yesterday at just after 11.30 am I get a message to attend my first appointment at NTC Surry Hills today. I was suppose to organise with Centrelink to get back on the books of my old Centrelink approved employment service provider and  ir switch over to Austudy. it never happened. Instead I had to spend weeks trying to get back on Welfare payments and was told there were no appointments available and the only approved Centrelink employment service provider was NTC but they don't have any appointments for 2 weeks. Just before the 2 weeks is up and on a public holiday they send me a notification to attend an appointment at 3 pm today. I don't even know where MTC is let alone where they are located in Surry Hills which is so far away from where I reside. I don't have the funds to get there because I spend most of it writing to, contacting varous departments via service Australia who when I arrive did nothing for me, using the internet to fill out forms ,phoning various departments etc  eventhough I have just been paid a fortnight of job seeker payments. I really should have been on Austudy payments but no I am on job Seeker still - so much for the advice the Centrelink officer gave me to fill out all those pages of personal details in order to apply for Austudy payments which has wasted my time and money resulting in nothing. Now I have to ring and try to get through yet another number to try and change my allocated approved Centrlink employment services provider to somewhere closer.

Sunday

It is a top of 25 degrees C and extremely sunny and hot this morning. I slept in until 9 am this morning after shocking news yesterday and venturing out to get laundry money groceries and a purchase a double bed silver coloured fitted 500 thread count sheet from kmart Chatswood as a favour for my neighbour  who can't go out due to a back injury. He was the one that told me that he received an email on I think he said tge 24th April from the property management company that the building we are residing in us up for auction again. This is the second time this property is upfor auction. The last time was just before COVID hit and the sign out the front when up but was taken down soon afterwards. The property manager was about to terminate everyone's leases and almost everyone had moved out except for me and the guy in the accessible unit downstairs # 1A or is it actually 1B ( I can't even remember). This was the man that passed away whilst living there (refer my previous blogs 2019/2020). I never received this email and am panicking as I have no where to go this time. Last time I was lucky and have lived here since. I was the only resident left in the building for I think a year until the property was reopened again for rental and since then there has been an 80% occupancy rate. Now that rental properties are in very short supply and mortgages just unaffordable as well as a minimum wait for government public housing of 10 years ( I 'll be dead before zi even get into public housing) , I will be homeless. This concerns me so much that I can't even think about completing my course as the auction is at the end of May and my course does not finish until the end of June . Unlike everyone else in the building who have alternative accomodation options eg family and friends, I have nobody no family no friends . I don't have a job and unlikely to be hired as I am just too old and semi retired. I haven't had a full time job for 10 years. The last time I worked was only for 3 months on a casual contract and the employer did not renew my contract. This is why I have been studying for the past 1.5 years . I could try and go back to bookkeeping but don't really want to. I am thinking of dropping out of my cause ( which I still have not received a refund for as I transferred courses )  and trying to get at least a casual job. I am doomed for the rest of my life. I think I should buy myself a tent and a sleeping bag  now because I am going to end up homeless.

Well by 10 am this morning the large rental sign out the front of the apartment building which had been torn and graffiti had been completely taken down ( not that there were or are any vacant studios in this former motel apartment block for still for rent) . Next the Auction sign will go up and in a few weeks I will veey likely be homeless again unless something happens . It is very likely the new owners will either knock the building down and redevelop it into a larger block of low rise apartments or convert it back into a motel/inn again. If they decide to keep it as is and collect rent, the  weekly rent is likely to double to $400 + per week. I am concerned as I don't finish my courses until at least June but more likely December 2024. The auction is at the end of May with inspections every Wednesday ( I'm in class all day  until late on Wednesdays). My 2 neighbours who I speak to are a little concerned - one more then the other. I like my neighbours and have become friendly with 2 of tgem # 3 and # 7. It will be a pity to be evicted as I walk everywhere from where I live. I've been here since 2019 moving in just before COVID and my 2 neighbours have been living here since after COVID hit when rentals were allowed again. I love living here as we help each other out. Even one of the neighbours from downstairs who often catches the Chatswood bus offers to help me if he sees me with heavy bags of shopping ( I decline as I like to be independent) . My neighbours #3 is not "home" as he has appointments for the next 3 weeks daily and I know my neighbour # 7 has a daily appointment. Me well I have appoints everywhere and am at college full time at least 3 days a week.

I am waiting for the offical auction sign to go up again. Last tome the sign went up before COVID and down quite quickly. The property manager wanted to terminate all leases. This time I think most of us are out of lease. Which means they can boot us out asap.

Tuesday

Very last day of my college holidays and I haven't finished all my assessments due. I am having thoughts of dropping out of my course look for a job as I am still worrying about where I am going to live.

I spoke with the part owner of the building yesterday but did not manage to find out much information on the reason for the sale of this apartment block which now does look like it is fully occupied by tenants. They did a very dodgey paint job with the front door. What was wrong with the original grey colour? I thought it was just primer but apparently it was the actual matt white. The sign is still not up although I was told by the part owner of tge building that it would be up yesterday same day as old sign was taken down. I emailed my neighbour in #7  and spoke to my neighbour in  #3 when I returned yesterday evening.

Yesterday I spent hours talking to my new consultant at my 1.30 pm centrelink approve employment provider Wise Employment who knew my old consultant and formerly worked at APM. I went to level 10 but it was the incorrect branch of Wise Employment - it was the disability branch, I was suppose to go to level 2 which is job seeker.

I was feeling a bit depressed went the library to try and do some more of my millions of assessments due but there was nowhere to sit not even on the floor next to a power point! The library at Chatswood is full with students even in the kids library area!

I had a fried Japanese  curry bun just before I had my appointment and also had the KFC special before it ended at 4 pm today. I originally ordered the go bucket which is just a small serve of pop corn chicken and chips but changed it for the meal deal as it was the same price $4.95 but had a hot rod, a chicken tender, a small chips, a small mash potato and gravy and a bun ( which is absolutely terrible I threw it out). I don't usually get KFC but was feeling so depressed I just did paying in cash so I could get some change to do my laundry when I returned to the apartment.

I stopped off at chemist warehouse as I am very low on face moisturiser as well as a few other items I was low on from Coles .

This morning I thought someone had taken off with the large red bin again after my neighbour had taken all 4 empty bins back in but it was returned later ( it foes have the unit block number marked on it - I marked this replacement bin after the last time someone stole the large red bin from the property)

Now I know why the lady rushed to return all her cans and bottles to be recycled the other night to the convenient store on Katherine St, it was closing down!

I was waiting at the bus stop out in front of it and this is what I saw taking a photo of the convenience store that I have visited so many times . (photos below). I could be wrong and it could have been closed for renovations or sold to a new owner reopening again later.

Budget airline Bonza has cancelled all  it's flights this morning causing passenger chaos and passrngers not knowing what to do. It is unsure if it was a strike, financial or operational issue or whether it is temporary or permanent. Assumed financial issues preventing Bonza from putting planes into the air , Bonza is not responding to government minister's inquiries (who has also reached out to Virgin and Qantas to assist stranded passengers get to their destinations) . Bonza is an airline that flies to regional areas of Australia ( Why isn't REX doing these routes? they are a regional airline  - trying to break into the domestic airline routes - maybe not a good idea they have a bad safety record and unreliability). Virgin offering complimentary seats to passengers - good on you! what exactly does "ongoing viability" mean ? bankruptcy? going into administration? Another budget Airlines bites the dust? The airline has gone into administration with planes being reprocessed just 15 months after it's launch. Staff jobs are up in the air and stranded angry customers want refunds - not so BONZA now hay?!

Emoji layering - people are finding new ways to stack emojis. eg I would describe my neighbour with πŸ€‘πŸ§‘‍πŸ¦²πŸ›’πŸ•ΆπŸ‘“ a bald man that wears glasses with a collection of sun glasses and shops a lot as well as wheeling and dealing in cash a lot - and no he is not adrug dealer - a drug user possibly - nah.
