Sunday 5th May 2019 - Zine Fair , MCA & Autumn Finders Keepers Market @ The Cutaway Barangroo

Today is not the best day to be out and about in the city - its overcast cold and just starting to rain therefore a preferred day to spend at home sleeping in snacking and watching tv.

Wearing my trusty reversible hooded puffer jacket off I go by bus and train  - first stop to attend the annual Zine Fair @ the MCA on the last day of the anbual Writers' Festival. The annual Zine Fair always draws a large crowd. Even the odd 4 legged friend below! A fair for the young and old there is something for everyone. Since I have blogged about this fair previously I won't write about it in detail again but there were 2 zine stalls that actually caught my attention this year both tailored towards the younger generation - one was the Dulwich Hill High School Graphic Arts & Design and the other was stall number 11. I didn't spend as much time this year at the Zine Fair as would have liked to as I had 2 other events I wanted to attend today both before they closed at 5 pm therefore tried to split my time evenly between them all. Rating 8/10 I could easily spend a few more hours there. This event demonstrates how self expression the  old school pen and paper way is not dead although there were panel discussions on social media topics at the fair.

Next onto Level 3 of the MCA to view the first of 3 venues hosting The National 2019 : New Australian Art exhibition which is also on at Carriageworks and The Art Gallery of NSW. I enjoyed this art exhibition and rate it a 8/10. I have to admit though that I am unfamiliar with any of the artist since they are all new or emerging.

Finally in the afternoon I planned to walk down to The Cutaway @ Barangaroo to look at the Autumn Finders Keepers Market. If I miss this I will try and catch it in Melbourne when it is on mid year.

It is raining so instead of walking to Barangaroo along the wharf princt via Hickson Rd or along George Street,  The Rocks;  I decided to take the ferry from Circular Quay Wharf 5 via Milsons Point ( outside the main entrance of Luna Park) and Pyrmont Bay. It is slower and I should arriveat Barangaroo by 3 pm. The markets close around 5 pm today. Usually last hour is discounted. Full entry is $5 this year a jump from last year's entry fee.

I am at the Autumn Finders Keepers Markets by 2.30 pm as there is quite a walk from the Barangaroo Ferry Wharf  via detours due to the Metroline construction and other major construction projects around Barangaroo to get to Barangaroo Reserve where The Cutaway is located. There is no public transport that stops directly outside Barangaroo Reserve due to the massive amount of construction going on currently.

Live entertainment on the main stage inside with an area to sit and relax as well as sit and have bite to eat from the variety of food trucks parked inside The Cutaway.
