HAPPY 25TH BIRTHDAY MCA!
The highlight of the MCA's weekend long birthday celebrations @ 12.30 pm - the Cake made by "Cakes By Cliff" in consultation with 2 other MCA design members a multi tiered cake is wheeled outside into the MCA's forecourt and watched by hundreds to be cut by no other then our Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and a junior assistant of the MCA. Happy Birthday is played in the background while it is being cut and there are cheers all round. Earlier the PM had given a speech addressing visitors to the museum the importance of philanthropy and support for the arts.
Visitors got to enjoy a slice of the birthday cake - there was enough cake for 200 people! Although some missed out. (photos of cake attached before and after - also see youtube video uploaded of MCA's 25th Birthday Celebration Weekend - PM Malcolm Turnbull's Cake Cutting Skills)
I just joined as a member of the MCA on my birthday this year and I really enjoy being a member so far.
If you love contemporary art I would recommend a membership.
One of the advantages of being a member is the members lounge hidden away on the ground floor , it is a quiet place to recharge your pieces of technology have a complimentary coffee or cold glass of water and just relax. There are plenty of newspapers art magazines and books to read as well. Perfect on a stinking hot day like today as it is nice and cool in the members lounge. I love it here more then my local library. I wonder if they provide complimentary wifi - yes they do - that will come in useful with all my blogging youtubing and photographs which is what I am catching up on now!!!!
Met some interesting people in the membets lounge today as well.
Back to level 2 to continue with where I left off last Saturday at the MCA ie taking a closer look at the museum's collection.
Yes that is our PM Malcolm Turnbull |
