Thursday 22nd March 2018 - My CV A WIP (Work In Progress/Process)

It's another wet  and miserable day - so glad I have the day off today. A chance to do laundry  and other catch up chores.

I always wanted to be a writer - ever since I was in primary school people saw I had the imagination and creativity beyond my years and I have always wanted to write an autobiography of my diverse , sometimes interesting and often quirky "work life" to date. The twists and turns the good and the bad. I've been through it all in my work life.

But writing this blog is not just about the above. I have been having thoughts for some time that it is time for me to move on and that I am now ready to move on. This is not a formal CV that I would post on LinkedIn  or other online social media platforms or on employment websites for employers to find but more of a subtle approach of possibly "killing 2 birds with 1 stone" - ie a yes I am interested in seeking other employment opportunities/offers as well as the opportunity for people to find out a little more about the Dulcinea behind Dulcineasdiarycontinued. And NO I do not live in the USA and NO I am not a personal trainer and I am certainly NOT 80 years old OR a pornstar!

A Very Specific Employment Dream I Had Recently
The distance from where I live and where I work has always been a problem for me and my current place of employment is no exception. To get to work it is a public bus followed by a train followed by another private bus. I can never work back too late as there are very few private buses after 7 pm between my current place of work and the train station and the same situation between home and the train station. I always wished I could work closer to home as all my other work collegues live locally.
Recently I had a very vivid dream that I applied to work at the local Officeworks (Staples would be the North American equivalent) just down the road from where I live and in my dream got the job starting one day a week (Mondays as this is my regular day off) until I left my current place of employment to work with them full time. The dream was very specific therefore I am tempted to apply. I wondered why in my dream I wasn't offered a job at Cake Decorating Solutions also down the road from where I lived (which I have inquired about employment although I have not actually applied) as this was what I think I would be good at however it makes sense that the dream didn't offer me a job there as it would be a conflict of employment according to my original contract of employment I signed back in 2009 which is probably not longer valid but specifies that I am not allowed to take up employment with any other kitchenware or homewares company whilst currently under employment with my current employer. Stationery is not a conflict of employment however I can't figure out why Stationery? I use it but don't really have an interest in it - maybe it is a chance to work in a larger company and with a non specific brand of  technology - I do love my technology without being trapped into brand name technology companies such as Microsoft or Samsung where skills may or may not be tranferrable if I decide to leave these types of companies. So the question is : Should I apply for Officeworks or elsewhere? I do have exceptional customer service skills but miss being in the back office as well. All comments welcome from my reads of my blogs worldwide. Genuine job offers also welcome.

Current Employment
I have been working at the current company for 9 years now and by the end of this year it will be my 10th year with them - that is if I decide to continue my employment with them. Who knows the future of any form of employment these days - maybe I could be retrenched next week, maybe a better offer of a position comes along prompting resignation as examples. I don't think I would ever leave my current job due to a massive lotto win though!

Past Employment
Where do I start. My first part time to full time position was (and I am deadly seriously about this) for an engineering company as a part time bookkeeper however it was not really a conventional engineering company and it lead to full time employment with them combining my qualifications in Applied Science and Business. Yes I also had the opportunity to work in the labs as well as in the office. One company 2 different jobs. Ideal right? Not until you hear why I had to "quit".
TBC......

I have worked for several high profile celebrities many of them caught up in some sort of major scandal with some scandals still under current investigation- I am sure readers of my blog will have read about them especially when they are front page news or even back page gossip.

RGM Robyn Gardiner Management
I am sure there a a few of my readers out there around the world that are familiar with this famous talent agency and the scandals associated with it. In particular the accusations of sexual misconduct against Hey Dad actor Robert Hughes ( who is also Robyn's husband- it took me a while to make this connection during my time working there). All I remember was it was a lot of fun working there, that Robyn Gardiner was not only a beautiful woman but also very nice, that Robert Hughes was always very extroverted, that I worked with a group of diverse women - Brenda, Wendy, Lin, Sally and one other girl whom I just can't recall the name of -  apologises, enjoying a glass of wine now and then (except  for me as I don't drink) , paying people such as Cate Blancette ( before she became mega famous) as well as one of the Bananas In Pyjamas ( the other banana belonged to a different talent agency), Russell Crowe was on the books and singer Paul Capsis (I remember have an extra long conversation with him and his fear of flying and telling him how amazing his voice was). I there have nothing bad to say against Robyn, Robert or the talent agency.

I was going through my archives and found this reference written and signed by Robyn herself.  It really does sum up my short time there and why I terminated my employment there. I was in the midst of my accounting studies and the pressure was on to make a decision to continue my studies or drop out and work. I chose to continue my studies.

Parliament House
I spent an even shorter amount of time working at Parliament House in the Finance Department. I gained a 6 week temporary payroll officer assignment through an employment agency and again enjoyed it very much. By now you will notice that I have a passion for payroll rather then accounting. During my time at Parliament House I saw and heard things I believe I shouldn't have. The 6 week assignment came up because there was a cease hire. I got to know most of the staff in The Finance department. My favourite staff member would have been Joyce ( I think that was her name - she was such a sweet older lady who gave me the best present ever a black mug with a printed crest of Parliament House in gold - I still have that mug today).  Then there was another older lady that came back from

Let's go back to the late 1980's. Still a teenager and like many teenagers - to earn a bit of pocket money and to meet people I worked at several Mcdonalds over a short period of time and on very casual basis and I have to be honest it was my very first job and I HATED it! The Mcdonalds I worked at included Broadway, Kingsford, Eastgardens and Bondi Beach which were a mixture of franchised and company owned Mcdonalds. I don't really remember much about my employment there except that my initial training was at the Kingsford and Eastgardens stores before being transferred to the brand new store opening at Bondi Beach. During my first few weeks at the Kingsford store I received my 2 and only achievement badges which were given out - one of which was outstnding customer service which is something I still strive for today. The achievement badges I still have in my employment archives somewhere.

Volunteer Work
I believe it is very important to give back to the community and I make it a goal of mine to try and find some volunteer work once a year for an organisation. Volunteering doesn't  always have to involve travelling overseas to a remote region to help build housing nor doe it have to be for a not for profit organisation - I have volunteered for a combination of chartity and non charity organisations. Sometime my work study sports and social schedule does not allow for this but I try to volunteer whenever I can. Some of the organisations I have volunteered for in the past are :

Tax Help organised by the ATO - I did it for 2 tax seasons and in return received community service certificates for my participation. 2 day training course and exam pass required before commencing. Great work experience and I was one of the youngest participants in the 1990s.  I believe this volunteer program is still running.
