As usual the laser, fireworks and water show was the main attraction of VIVID 2017 Darling Harbour. This year's show was spectacular but not as spectacular as last years show.
There are 2 sessions which include fireworks - 7 pm and again at 8.30 pm. The show is on every 30 minutes and each show is 10 minutes in duration.
I video the 7 pm session from the wharf on Darling Harbour, then again from the side on Pyrmont Bridge at 7.30 pm and one more time from the centre of Pyrmont Bridge at 8.30 pm.
Although each show was similar, each of the videos I took of the show from each of the vantage points was completely different.
The view from the wharf was distant but clear with good sound quality. Fireworks and lasers can be seen however projections were not very visible.
The view from the side of Pyrmont Bridge had very clear projection but no fireworks and sound quality was OK but not as good as it was from the wharf.
The view from the centre of Pyrmont bridge was a combination of both and included fireworks.
To get an idea of the best vantage point to watch the "Magicians of the Mist" show at Darling Harbour during VIVID watch my 3 Youtube videos all unedited on opening night to decide.
I preferred the views from Pyrmont Bridge this year however it varies from year to year. An alternative vantage point which I didn't video from due to timing was from a small viewing platform next to the Australian Maritime Museum which was open to the public but did not attract people as the location is unknown to many people and not many people knew it was free and open to the public. The location has a great view of "Inspired by the Sea" projections on the roof of the Maritime Museum but it also had partial to full views of Darling Harbour's "Magicians of the Mist" show. There is a small free exhibit to see inside the complex as well. Note : lift was not working on the night therefore climbing of stairs involved.
Other things on at VIVID Darling Harbour which were of interest were:
Huawei Hub - interactive and walk through light diplay Tumblong Park
Fred Hollows Gift of Sight Artists display using special torches to view artworks walk through shipping container located near ICC building. Glow in the dark fun.
Shepard Fairey public art exhibition located along Darling Quarter.
Interactive light display game booths along Darling Park area. Note: these booths closed early therefore I only walked past them but did not have a chance to play with them.
