Saturday 18th August 2018 - Last Saturday Morning Dance Class Before The Big Move & Another Weekend Of Activities

Back blogging after working hard for the past 2 weeks. I did manage to purchase a rather yummy chicken pie from Baguette on Darling Street in Balmain for lunch on one of the days I was out there working. Pastry still too thick but better the a pies from Bourke Street Bakery Cafe and Adriano Zumbo both in Balmain that I had eaten previously.

Today starts off with Louie George's Beginner Jazz Class. I think Louie is getting just a bit over the big move from The Wharf Precinct to the new Sydney Dance Company custom built studios in Ultimo. He announces to the class that he just wants to move so he can get on with life.

Apparently the Sydney Dance Company sign has been errected above the new dance studios in Ultimo however the front of the new studios is still under construction. As mentioned previously the move has been delayed until 24th August 2018 with Friday classes commencing at the new studios. This means this Saturday's regular dance class between 10 am and 11.30 am is really Louie George's last Beginner Jazz class on a Saturday at The Wharf Precinct dance studios. Louie keeps telling his class every week "A lot can happen in 2 years ( the length of time Sydney Dance Company will occupy the Ultimo site until refurbishments of the wharf studios are complete)  - I could be pregnant" he says - fat chance! It doesn't help when one of my classmates responds with "I'll help you with having twins!"

I don't know what the piece of music we did our routine to was today but it was another new one from Louie.

We were allowed to video the class and take photos as well as organising group class photos on our phones at the end of the class because it was our last Saturday class here. Normally photography and videoing in the studios is prohibited except by the teachers. Louie just asked a random student waiting outside the studio for the next dance class to take the group photos and I took videos of the class's dance routine ( when I really should have been dancing myself) along with other classmates on our phones. Big thanks to the unknown photographer who took the group photos of the class with Louie George in it - he took some good shots of our group.

Photos below and 2 short videos of the class routine has been unloaded onto YouTube.

Everyone say "Jazz Hands" or is that "Spirit Fingers"

The Class In Action

Good Bye Sydney Dance Company at Wharf 4 - well not quite dance classes are still on at the current dance studios until 24th August 2018.

After dance class no shower just a change of clothes into my rashie and off by bus for another Winter swim at Balmoral Beach. A beautiful sunny day of 21 degrees C except with slight winds today. I caught the 325 bus to Wynyard before hopping on the new yellow double decker B Line bus to Spit Junction changing onto another bus to Balmoral Beach. I stayed down below on this bus as it was a short trip and I wasn't  sure where to get off. There are designated stops on this special route - must take a ride on this B Line all the way to Mona Vale one day and sit in the front on the upper deck! It is a very long way to Mona Vale which warrants a day trip with a stop via Warringah Mall for a bit of shopping along the route!

A hot shower before hopping on the 257 bus back home but not without dramas. The bus sat across the road for at least half an hour and the driver had a rather long toliet break before driving around the block and advising all passengers that he was only going as far as Crows Nest where we had to wait for the next bus to Chatswood. The 257 bus to Chatswood from Balmoral Beach was scheduled to depart Balmoral Bech at 2.10 pm but did not depart until 2.29 pm. I asked why the bus driver was only stopping as far as Crows Nest and he advised me that because he was behind schedule he cou ld not go any further - this was just unacceptable as it started to rain and was becoming windy by the time we arrived at Crows Nest. Ended up getting on a connecting 343 bus at Crows Nest to Chatswood. A quick stop at Chatswood for sushi for my father and a hot Japanese chicken katsu curry for myself takeaway before getting on the next M40 bus back home. Wanted Crust Pizza but it was closed.

Another adventure tomorrow stay tuned.
