Saturday 8th June 2017 - Saturday Markets @ Carriageworks

Another market I don't get out to much is the Saturday Markets at Carriageworks. I have blogged about these markets previously.

On every Saturdays between 8 am and 1 pm all year round except maybe some public holidays or special event days, these markets have almost everything mainly handmade, homemade, small batched, farm fresh and organic.

Be prepared for crowds and queues especially for ready to eat products such as cakes, pastries and hot foods such as burgers made on the spot , Billy Kwongs menu and Pho. Coffee , freshly extracted juices even several flavours of kombucha on tap then bottled is available.

There is a variety of marmalades, chutneys, sauces,  oils and herbs also available. Chocolates and chocolate products , cheeses cultured butter , gee, unsliced bread loaves, pastries and even crumpets are also available.

Add to this the amount of fresh fruit and vegetables as well as seafood, poultry and meat.

I love the way my avocados and mandarins with leaves still attached to them are purchased in standup paperbags and how the variety of apples are all unwaxed imperfect and oddly sized - just as they should be and how I can get new season garlic still on their green stems and other types of fruits such as dried sugar plums, dried dates which both do not contain any added sulpur by the gram in paper bags and lemonades rather then lemons which are twice the size of a normal lemon which are very much like the meyer lemon (it looks like a normal lemon but tastes like a mandarin).

Rating 9/10 - one of my favourite markets and a must visit for tourists. Take the train to Redfern Station and walk about 15 minutes to Carriageworks along Little Evenleigh and along Wilson Street. Visit the interior of the Carriageworks Building especially when exhibitions, events, performances or workshops/talks are on. Cornerstone Cafe onsite (check opening days and hours) for food and drink. Third party ATM and restroom facilities also onsite. Ramps from street level to venue also available for prams, wherlchairs, walkers, trolleys etc.
