Saturday 7th May 2016 - Darling Street in Bustling Balmain

The day before Mother's Day and it's a perfect sunny day only spoiled by the very thick cloud of smoke smothering the entire Sydney area due to back burning in the Blue Mountains.

A very rare opportunity for me to work out at the Balmain store. There are 3 staff on all day from 9 am - 5.30 pm.

I seize the opportunity to not only soak up the atmosphere of Darling Street with all its shops, cafes and old architecture in the heart of bustling Balmain but also to buy some pastries, cakes and bread from Zumbo and have a look at the Balmain Markets which are on every Saturday in the grounds of the old St Andrews Church.

I purchased a dulce leche and cream zonut and 2 bread rolls from Zumbo and took some photos of the Balmain Markets.

Balmain Markets - small and disappointing - not many people at the markets . Disapointed I could not find any fresh fruit and vegetable stall as advertised - maybe there wasn't one. Rating 5/10

Free shuttle bus service to/from market to/Gladstone Park, Balmain Wharf and East Balmain - good idea but service looked underused that day.
Rating 7/10

Zumbo  - rare and unusual probably stocked up for Mother's Day -  a very large selection of sweet and savoury  today - cakes, pastries, pies , chocolates, breads, macaroons etc. Forgot to take photos of my purchases sorry! Dulce Leche zonut was delicious by the way!!!!!!!
Rating 8/10
