Saturday 15th October 2016 - William Street Festival - Paddington Markets - Taronga Zoo Centenary Birthday Light Parade - Night Noodle Markets

William Street Festival
Part of Good Food Month list of events, this event was so popular it was almost standing room only all the way down William St in Paddington except for a few patches where the small Outdoor Cinema was set up. If you wanted to eat or drink (mainly drink) from the variety of food and beverage stalls down Willam St you had to eat and drink on the go shoulder to shoulder with everyone. It was difficult to tell which food and wine festival was more popular - I think like myself there was probably a crowd of people that went to both.
I have never really walked beyond the Williams St chocolate shop which has been there for years. I enjoyed mysrlf very much although I didn't spend as much time there as I did at the Newtown Food Fair. It was a nice warm day today - the jacket was almost off but the sunnies were on. I had a vegetarian slice of wood fire oven pizza and a pineapple and mint frappe made with cane juice and no dairy. Very refreshing on a day like today. The amount of alcohol on sale was amazing but not just your average beer or glass of red or white wine - no in Paadington they drink Pimms and cocktails! All of which looked so refreshing and tempting but no alcohol for me. Then there was the food - no sausages on a roll in Pafdington it was all about the best meat balls in tomato sauce nonna could make and pizza and chargrilled corn, roasts, gourmet dumplings and fancy crepes! The dogs their owners and of course the boutiques of fashion. One store had a beach theme outside their store complete with deck chairs beach umbrellas and sand right up to their door! (Photos attached) Rating 7/10 no toilet facilities and extremely crowded.

Paddington Markets & Night Noodle Markets

Since Paddington Markets is an regular Saturday event in Paddington and the Night Noodle Markets are on at Hyde Park for a few weeks during October as past of Good Food Month in Sydney, I will blog about these on a separate blog later possibly. These just happened to be on at the same time and near by the 2 one off or annual events I went to today.

Stayed tuned though - you may be interested in reading my next blog also related to food.

Taronga Zoo Centenary Light Parade
What better way to end the zoo's birthday celebrations then to have a light parade featuring and recycling all the endangered animal light diplays from VIVID down Macquarie Street from Hyde Park to the Opera House also featuring groups of staff volunteers and school groups all dressed up as an different endangered species and dancing and carrying around glow sticks. Great parade and great turn out of crowds although I wasn't sure where to watch the parade from so I viewed the parade from the start ie Hyde Park. The clock strikes eight and the parade starts everyone cheers them on.
Sorry no photos but may have an unedited video later on - sorry blogger won't allow over 100 mb videos.(unedited extract of parade live has now been uploaded onto youtube)  Rating 8/10 a little short - parade only between 8 pm and 9 pm.

I can't believe amount of people that have viewed my very rough extract youtube video of the Taronga Zoo Centenary Light Parade. It is no where as exciting as the original light show Taronga Zoo put on during VIVID therefore I recommend you also view both my completely edited youtube video of VIVID at Taronga Zoo and my other live unedited Youtube video of the projections at the entrance of Taronga Zoo during VIVID if you havent already.
