Wednesday 1st June & Thursday 2nd June 2016 - VIVID @ Chatswood

Work today  and the following day were extremely chaotic with the end of financial year sale and the store in the process of moving. I hardly had time to breathe except during my lunch breaks. Seeing VIVID on my way home from work at Chatswood now that is actually offically open to the public allowed me to relax and enjoy this VIVID precinct night # 3 - another single VIVID precinct down! Only another 9 VIVID precincts to go!

First stop after alighting the train at Chatswood station was the PREHISTORIC AVIARY operating from the ground level outside the station entry/exit gates (make these giant lit up creatures fly up and down and squawk by using peddle power on gym equipment) and the BRIDGE OF ILLUSION on the Podium level leading to The District dining area - not for those who may be a little scared of heights as there is a changing projection over the bridge creating an optical illusion that the bridge is moving and collapsing onto people below.
(Photos attached and working on a short video mix)

Onto the STOMPING GROUND a large colourful projection of prehistoric images onto the surface located near the centre of Chatswood Mall. During VIVID the mall is also a place to eat and drink (designated non alcoholic zone) with a selection of stalls set up as concessions along it to purchase tasty snacks and drinks on the go .

Next stop was Hawker Lane which is a new dining area within the Westfield  Shopping  Centre  now  open until  late.  It  took  me  a while  to   find   this  VIVID  exhibit   called NEON DINO LIGHTS which was hidden in a laneway through some glass doors outside Hawker Lane. Here I also discovered some
permanent artwork/signage as well in the
  lane.

The 3 main VIVID exhibitions were located at The Concourse in Chatswood. One I have previously blogged and uploaded a video onto Youtube about pre opening night preview.

There is a sequence of how these 3 VIVID exhibitions are linked. The PRIMORDIAL POND located down on the library's water feature lower ground level is a series of projections onto 3 large egg shaped inflatables with water fountains, colour and smoke making machines to add effects. This series of projections is timed in between the GONDWANA LIGHT LAB projection on the main Performing Arts Centre building facade which acts as the centre stage. Then the EXOSKELETONS make their entry on the other side of The Concourse area.

Final stop for Wednesday night was Chatswood Chase Shopping Centre where the LUMINARIUM is located. Very disappointed that this is only open during the day and on Thursday nights during VIVID which meant I did not get to see it on Wednesday night. Revisited it again afterwork on Thursday night. (Apologies photos of exterior only attached - this is a kids dress up activity)
